MR. MARLOU B. UBANO obtained his degrees in Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines in 1993 and 1997, respectively, where he was a scholar and a member of the Editorial Board of the Philippine Law Journal.

Immediately after taking the Bar examinations, Mr. Ubano joined the Litigation Monitoring Department of Accralaw until his promotion as a Senior Associate. Evaluating his performance as a lawyer, Accralaw partners gave him the elusive rating of Excellent, observing that he is a “mature and expert litigator” who has a “commendable take-charge attitude.”

Under the tutelage of brilliant Accralaw partners, principally its Founding Partner and Chief Litigator, Mr. Jose C. Concepcion, he was at the forefront of various big and complex corporate, civil and criminal litigation cases successfully prosecuting or defending clients’ interests.

Mr. Ubano’s practice includes, among other things, commercial, civil and criminal litigation; cross-border practice; public-private partnership practice; build-operate-transfer (BOT) projects; corporate rehabilitation, insolvency law, arbitration and other modes of alternative dispute resolutions; intellectual property; telecommunications; election law and public officers; land laws; transportation law; environmental law; power; energy; and real estate.

He served and continuous to serve, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (“IBP”) in various notable capacities such as Commissioner of the Commission of Bar Discipline; Editor of the IBP Journal; President of IBP-Capiz Chapter; Governor of IBP Western Visayas Region; and Director of the Commission on Bar Discipline.
Aside from his extensive involvement in the private sector, Mr. Ubano likewise served the public sector as Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs of the Department of Transportation and Communications.

He served, and continues to serve, as directors in various domestic private corporations, including listed corporations.
